With an emphasis on concrete tactics for establishing welcoming and accepting classroom climates, this course aims to provide teachers with a grounding in neurodiversity. The course will go over the fundamentals of neurodiversity, the challenges neurodivergent students face, how neurodivergent students learn best, and concrete strategies for incorporating these ideas into the classroom to benefit all students.
Lernziele
- You will define neurodivergence and its various forms, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and others.
- You will understand the unique strengths and challenges faced by neurodivergent students.
- You will review strategies to implement effective accommodations and support neurodivergent students in the classroom.
- You will learn techniques to integrate educational technology, including AI and other programs, to increase engagement and participation.
- You will learn how to develop a classroom environment that supports neurodivergent students' emotional and social needs.
Stacie Lech has over 15 years of classroom experience and a deep commitment to improving education for neurodivergent students. As a teacher, instructional designer, and UX researcher, she brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to everything she does. Stacie focuses on how educational systems can better support executive functioning and meet the needs of diverse learners. For the past 2 1/2 years her hyperfocus has been aimed at how AI can be implemented to improve learning experiences and make education more inclusive. With a strong foundation in brain research and a creative eye from her background in the arts, she enjoys designing curriculum that feels engaging, supportive, and genuinely useful.
